Make-up Shake-up #7

Hey everyone,

So this week has been quite hectic with college work, so apologies for posting a little late. As I mentioned, this week has been busy, so I wanted to keep my makeup quite minimal.

These are the products I have picked this week.

For primer this week I'm still loving my Benefit POREfessional, I find this primer helps my foundation last that little bit longer. Absolutely love this product.

This week for foundation I wanted a lightweight foundation, thats where my Bourjois Healthy Mix comes in. I love this foundation, it leaves my skin looking fresh and dewy. I do have combination/oily skin, but this still looks fantastic.

To set my foundation I use my Rimmel Stay Matte powder, this is definitely a fantastic and very affordable pharmacy/drugstore powder, if you're in the market for a great powder and don't want to splash out.

For concealers this week I have two favourites- my Collection Lasting Perfection, I use this for blemishes or for any redness I may have. I also have my Rimmel Wake Me Up, I love this for the undereye area, it really helps to brighten up that area and make me look more awake.

For contour/bronzer I am still loving my Chanel Bronze Universal/Soleil Tan De Chanel. I find this looks like a really natural on me, especially as a contour. I like to apply this using my fingers, then blending it out with my Real Techniques Buffing brush.

For blush this week I went with my NYX Peach blusher. This is a gorgeous peachy/pink colour, which has definitely become a new favourite of mine. I like to apply this using a Stippling brush, as it gives a really natural look.

For eyes this week I also kept it quite minimal.

For my eye primer I have my MAC Painterly Paint Pot, I absolutely love this stuff, it disguises any redness I may have. It also lasts ages, I use this most days and I've had this for almost a year! I haven't even found it drying up either.

I went with my Stila eyeshadow in Kitten. This is a beautiful champagne colour with a hint of shimmer, this really helps to brighten my eyes, however, this eyeshadow is very crumbly, so I try to be light-handed when using this. It also make a great highlight for the inner corner of the eye.

I also love to apply generous coats of my Rimmel Lash Accelerator Endless mascara to my lashes. I am loving this mascara, it doesn't flake on me at all, it also works wonderfully on my bottom lashes.

Lastly for brows, I am still loving my Illamasqua Brow Cake in Thunder, I couldn't rave more about this if I could. It lasts ages and it can also be used as a liner too!
Stila Kitten

It's no secret that I love lip products! So I have two products for you this week.

For my lipstick I went with MAC Plumful. I have had this lipstick for a while, I always seem to overlook it, the colour is a gorgeous purple/plum colour with a lustre finish. This lasts really well on the lips too. I like to apply it from the tube and them dab it so I'm left with more of a stain.

For my last lip product I have one of the MAC Tendertones in Purring. This was released with the Shop MAC, Cook MAC collection last Spring. The shade is a beautiful orange colour, but is quite sheer, more of a lipbalm really. This is a great no-fuss product when you're feeling lazy- it also smelly gorgeous!

Make-up Shake-up #6

Hey everyone,

This week I am back in college after a well-needed week off. I skipped last weeks Make-up Shake-up mainly because I wasn't bothered wearing makeup most of the days!

Anyway I'll jump right in:

For primer this week it is my well-loved Benefit POREfessional, it's a great primer that works really well on my skin.

Foundation this week is a new addition to the mountain of foundation already in my collection. It is the new Revlon Nearly Naked foundation. This is a lovely lightweight foundation which leaves my skin nice and dewey looking. I have the second lightest shade- 120 Vanilla (keep your eyes peeled for a review on this!).

For powder I am using my new Revlon Nearly Naked powder, again this is a lovely powder which doesn't leave me looking caked.

This week for contour I decided to go with something a little different. I dug out my Chanel Soleil Tan De Chanel (or Bronze Universal), I love the formula of this, it's almost a cream to powder like product. I have promised myself to start using this a lot more!

For concealers I have gone with two, my Collection Lasting Perfection, which is great for disguising any blemishes or redness. I also have a new-ish concealer in my collection, the Rimmel Wake Me Up concealer, which I love for under my eyes, as it gives a nice brightening effect.

For eye primer I am still using my trusty MAC Painterly Paint Pot.

For brows I am still loving my Illamasqua Brow Cake in Thunder, it is a great match for my brows.

This week for eyeshadows I wanted to keep it quite neutral, so I am using my Revlon Colorstay quad in Addictive. I love this quad as it has all the colours you could need for a neutral eye look.

Finally for mascara, I am trying out my new Rimmel Lash Accelerator Endless mascara in the colour brown (believe it or not I have never used a brown mascara!). I have heard so many great things about this mascara so I am looking forward to testing it.

This week for lips I couldn't just choose one product, so I went with four!

Last week I rekindled my love of the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm stains. In particular I was loving Charm, a light orangey peach colour. I also picked two others to use this week. Crush, which is a gorgeous deep berry shade and Sweetheart Valentine, which is a gorgeous bright pink colour.

I also went with my new NYX Mega Shine lipgloss in Perfect. This shade really complements the Revlon Kissable Balm stain in Charm.
L-R- Revlon Crush, Revlon Sweetheart Valentine, Revlon Charm, NYX Perfect

Last week I was loving my NYX blush in Peach, however, this is more of a light pink colour, which is stunning! I couldn't not pick it!

I have also dug out my Natural Collection blush in Peach Melba. This was my go-to blush for most of last Summer. There was huge hype surrounding this when I started blogging, I have a couple more of their blushes, which are fantastic quality (and really affordable!).

NYX Haul

Morning everyone,

So recently I logged on to Cherry Culture and saw they were offering 20% off of all NYX products. So I figured it'd be rude not to, and placed an order.

My favourite product from NYX hands down would have to be their Soft Matte Lip Creams. They're so smooth to apply and are essentially a liquid lipstick. I love the pigmentation as well.

So when I was perusing the website I thought I would branch out and try a couple of their other products. I did a little research online and thought I would try some of their lipglosses and blushes.

Here are the products I bought:

Soft Matte Lip Creams
L-R- Stockholm, Abu Dhabi, Monte Carlo, San Paulo, Antwerp

I absolutely love the consistency of these. They are so smooth to apply and aren't drying on the lips. My favourite shades of the bunch are Monte Carlo and Antwerp. All of the colours are really wearable for day time. They also last ages on the lips.

Round Lipgloss & Mega Shine Lipglosses
L-R- Mauve, Beautiful, Beige, Tea Rose

There a couple varieties of lipglosses that NYX offer, I picked up one of their Round lipglosses in the shade Mauve, which is a gorgeous neutral pink. I also picked up three of their Mega Shine Lipglosses. I picked the shades Beautiful, Beige (the name makes no sense, it's more of a rose pink colour) and Tea Rose which is a gorgeous fuchsia pink colour. Their Mega Shine lipglosses smell exactly like marzipan! I love the consistency of the glosses too, not too sticky.

L-R- Mauve, Pinched, Peach, Nutmeg, Dusty Rose

I was most surprised by the pigmentation of these blushes, you only need the tiniest bit! I picked up some matte shades and some shimmery shades. The quality of these blushes are up their with the likes of MAC and NARS, the colour selection is fantastic as well and are so affordable.

Dusty Rose

Overall, I am really happy with everything I purchased. Shipping is really affordable at $13, however it can take up to two weeks to arrive.

Have you tried NYX products? Do you have any recommendations?

Review: L'Oreal CC Cream

Hey lovelies,
Recently L'Oreal released a new product for their Nude Magique line. This come in the form of a CC Cream or Colour Correcting Cream. These are available in three shades- Anti-Redness (Green), Anti-Dullness (Purple) and Anti-Fatigue (Peach).

Essentially these are a 'one for all' product. These start out as a green colour (depending on which one you go for!) and the pigments blend out into a foundation. These products are lightweight but are definitely build-able! They can look orangey if too much product is used, so definitely start light and build from there.

These are a 5 in 1 product which offer:
- Flawless Coverage
- Perfectly even skin texture
- Fresh Dewy Glow
- 24hr Hydration
- SPF 12

I picked up the green one (for Anti-Redness) as I suffer from quite a bit of redness down the centre of my face and on my cheeks. I find this product helps to disguise any redness I have going on and is great for my lazy days when I don't feel like wearing too much makeup.

*Apologies the lighting in some of the photos is a little off!*
No makeup
Just L'Oreal CC Cream
All of the rest

Products used:
L'Oreal Nude Magique CC Cream (Anti-Redness)
Benefit POREfessional
Urban Decay All Nighter spray
Collection Lasting Perfection concealer
Rimmel Stay Matte powder
Benefit Sugarbomb blush
Illamasqua Brow Cake- Thunder
MAC Paint Pot- Painterly
*Sigma Flare palette- Publicize, Resist, Gossip & Beware
Rimmel Scandaleyes liner- Nude
Soap & Glory Thick & Fast mascara

Overall, I really like this product and find it suits my skintone nicely. I don't think it would be ideal for really pale skintones, as I mention it can look a little orange if applied heavily.

These will be launching in March retailing for around €15, but I managed to get my hands on one a little earlier!

Will you be trying CC Creams?

Rimmel Apocalips- Review+Swatches

Morning everyone,
So back in January Rimmel released the much anticipated Apocalips Lip Lacquers. When I had first heard about these I thought they would be similar to the YSL Glossy Stains (which I love!), these however are far from it. These are a hybrid between a lipstick and a lip gloss.

This is the first product of its kind that I have seen on the high street, they also have a phenomenal selection of shades in this collection, ranging from nudes, pinks right through to reds.
L-R- Nude Eclipse, Luna, Nova, Celestial, Stellar, Apocaliptic, Big Bang, Galaxy

The application of these is so smooth and opaque in one go, the applicator isn't your traditional doe foot, this one has a little well which gathers product, this is to prevent double dipping.
I have found with this product after about an hour (depending if you're eating!) the glossiness fades and you are left with an almost satin finish. After a little longer I have noticed you are left with just a stain on the lips.

The only problem I have found with these products is the scent, they have that signature Rimmel 'scent' to them. But thats a small price as the product is fantastic! I think the packaging is great, I love to be able to see what colour I'm grabbing.

My favourites of the bunch would be Apocaliptic or Celestial.

Apologies for the dodgy application in some of these pictures, the lighting wasn't great!
Nude Eclipse
Big Bang

Overall, I think these are fantastic products and are really affordable. Rimmel have definitely upped their game in the last couple of months.

Rimmel Apocalips are available from Boots stores nationwide for €7.95, and are currently on 3 for 2!

Have you tried the Rimmel Apocalips?

Review: Dr.Jart Water Fuse BB Cream

Hey lovelies,

So back in August I ventured into the world of BB Creams. This was the first one that caught my eye, I thought I would give it a go. Boy was I glad I did!
I was a bit unsure about it being a all for one product, as this is only available in one shade. I found it matched me perfectly. I use my Real Techniques Expert Face brush to apply this, I find this is my favourite brush to apply this product with.

I find with this I only need the tiniest amount, it covers any imperfections I may have and leaves my skin looking dewy and fresh. Also this is oil-free which is great for people with oily/combination skin like myself. It also has an SPF 25.
No makeup
Just BB Cream
All of the rest
Dr.Jart have other BB Creams available for more mature skin also. Prices start from €24, however I re-purchased another tube of this on offer for €15!

Products used:
Dr.Jart Water Fuse BB Cream
Benefit POREfessional
Urban Decay All Nighter spray
Collection Lasting Perfection concealer
Rimmel Stay Matte powder
Clarins Face & Blush powder*
MAC Painterly paint pot

YSL Shocking mascara
Illamasqua brow cake- Thunder
Anastasia clear brow gel
Korres Lip Butter- Plum

Have you ventured into the world of BB Creams? What's your favourite?

January Favourites

Evening lovelies,

January was a great month for trying out some old favourites and some new favourites.

These are my January favourites:

Nima mitt*- Back in November when I attended the Christmas Blogger Meetup, Niamh Martin from Nima Brushes, demonstrated her latest creation. The Nima Mitt is a makeup removing mitt, which only requires water to remove makeup. I have been loving this for when I've had a late night!
MAC Ricepaper eyeshadow- I have had this shadow in my collection for quite some time, but have never used it much up until recently. This is a beautiful champagne with almost a golden-yellowish tone to it. I love how this really brightens up my eyes.
Rimmel Stay Matte- This has been my favourite powder. I had been loving my MAC Studio Fix powder at the beginning of January, but gradually gravitated back to my Rimmel Stay Matte. I will definitely continue to re-purchase this!
Benefit Coralista- In January I re-discovered my Benefit Coralista, which I used to death for ages, but then tucked it away in the back of a drawer. I came across this again in January and was so happy when I did. I love this blush as it puts a bit of 'life' back into my look, as I am quite pale. I will happily continue to use this until it runs out.
NARS Albatross highlighter- I may have a slight obsession with highlighters. I feel they can really add to a makeup look for me. I purchased Albatross back in December with some Christmas money. I love how natural this highlight looks. It doesn't make me look too oily either. It is a white highlighter with a slight yellow-y colour to it. I love how this looks on my skin.
L-R- Benefit Coralista, NARS Albatross
YSL Shocking mascara- I started using this back in December and instantly fell in love. I have quite short lashes, this really adds some much-needed volume and a bit of length. Unfortunately this does come with a hefty price tag, so I will be switching between other mascaras in my collection.
Lush Bubblegum lip scrub- January was quite a cold month, which really took a toll on my skin. My lips because dry and chapped. My Lush lip scrub really came in handy. It contains caster sugar, which is a great mild lip scrub. I love the taste of this, as you can probably tell it smells and tastes like bubblegum, which you can lick off once you've scrubbed your lips. Afterwards I like to apply a generous layer of lip balm.
Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer- I absolutely been loving this concealer this month. Everyone and their mother has been raving about it, an rightly so! This beats any high-end concealer in my opinion. I love the coverage of it, it's not too cakey and it's really light. I think I'm on my fifth or sixth tube of this. My only problem with it is that the writing rubs off, but thats a small price as the product makes up for that!
MAC Syrup lipstick- Again I bought this after Christmas, and have been loving it. The colour is great, I really love the MAC Lustre finish lipstick- being glossy and pigmented at the same time. This is a great one to have in any collection.
Rimmel Apocalips- Rimmel have been on fire lately regarding new product releases. In January saw the release of the Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquers. These are a hybrid between a lipstick and a lipgloss.  These are really similar to the YSL Glossy stains, which I love, but at a third of the price. These last a good 2-3 hours as well and fade to a stain. I highly suggest checking these out! I will be reviewing these in the next couple of days, so keep an eye out.
L-R- MAC Syrup, Rimmel Apocalips Big Bang, Rimmel Apocalips Celestial

What products have you been loving this month?
